Grief Quilt (2024)
A dear friend gifted me a box of fabric scraps. Later that same day, I found out a close family member had suddenly died. Shocked and reeling, all I could do was sit and sew. This quilt is completely by hand as I didn’t have an electric sewing machine yet. Much of it I sewed in the car traveling to be with my family. Before gifting it to a bereaved loved one, I embroidered this on the back:
“Your absence has gone through me like thread through a needle. Everything I do is stitched with its color.” - W. S. Merwin
