Grief Tending support is ideal for you if:

  • You have ever lost someone or something you loved. (Which is every single one of us.)

  • You feel your grief was not met by others. You might have heard it was “too much” or you “should be over it.”

  • Your loss is fresh or is from decades ago.

  • You are grieving your person, animal, relationship, job, your sense of self due to illness or life transition (post-college, mid-life, empty nest, retirement), or you are grieving our earth due to climate change.

  • You are grieving the loss of how you thought things would be—for yourself, for your community, for your country or the world.

  • You feel alone on your path of grief.

  • You want to feel joy, inner spaciousness, and belonging!

Is Grief Tending right for you? Let’s talk.

How is Grief Tending different from Therapy?

Being alone in our sorrow increases it.As a grief tender and chaplain, I listen to you with an open heart and mind. I cannot tell you when you will feel better. I can’t “fix” you because you are not broken, though you may feel broken-hearted right now. I am here to listen, give practical suggestions, and guide you toward healing and integrating your loss.

Drawing on my knowledge of meditation, yoga, and practices to soothe the nervous system, I can help you find islands of calm. I will guide you to create time and space to grieve and encourage you to draw on your inner knowing. Sometimes that includes creating rituals, celebrations, or memorials to honor your loss.

Therapy is offered by licensed counselors and is a form of treatment for emotional distress or mental health problems. While psychotherapy encompasses many kinds of treatment, there is often a focus on exploring past life events that are influencing the present difficulty.

Grief is not an illness. It is a natural part of life. I will tell you if you would be better served by a therapist or if grief tending would be complemented with therapy.
