Grief in This Green World:
A Retreat for Ritual, Rest & Renewal

Connect with your grief and replenish yourself in nature.

Saturday, May 16, 2026
Five Oak Ranch Retreat Center, Austin, TX

One-Day Grief & Creativity Retreat

At this seasonal retreat, we gather with the support of guided meditation, our community grief altar, and the gifts of silence and nature to meet our grief.

We also make a little something—a poem, a collage, and/or mindful photographs (using your cellphone). You do not need any experience. Every one of us is naturally creative. Just as a fallen tree is fuel for so much life, our grief is a source of creativity and transformation.

Connect with your grief and replenish yourself in nature.

Reconnect deeply with yourself and your grief, through this one-day retreat that includes ritual, as well as generous time to rest, walk the labyrinth or nature trails, write, make a collage, take mindful photographs, or take a dip in the swimming pool.

This retreat is perfect for you if:

  • You have lost someone or something you loved (recently or long ago).

  • Your grief was not met by others; you heard it was “too much” or you “should be over it.”

  • You are grieving a person, animal, relationship, job, or your sense of self due to illness or life transition (post-college, motherhood, mid-life, empty nest, retirement)

  • You are grieving our earth due to climate change.

  • You are grieving the loss of how you thought things would be—for yourself, for your community, for your country or the world.

  • You are a caregiver for a loved one and/or are experiencing anticipatory grief.

  • You feel alone on your path of grief.

  • You want to learn how to meet your grief with compassion so that you can feel joy, inner spaciousness, and belonging.

  • You are age 18 or older.

 What will be provided:

  • A cozy, safe place to rest, connect with your grief, and witness others’ grief

  • A beautiful home with comfortable indoor and outdoor living areas and full kitchen

  • A 26-acre nature preserve with a labyrinth for meditative walking, nature trails, and creek

  • Coffee, tea, chocolate and other snacks.

  • Old magazines and papers, glue, and scissors for making a collage

  • Writing prompts

  • Oracle cards to consult on your own

  • My collection of books on grief to peruse on your own

  • An opportunity to sign up for 1:1 time with me

Cost: $50-$150 (sliding scale). Limited to 12 participants.

What past participants say:

“This was a potent re-set. …We had permission to move through our deeply personal journey without judgement. Being silent in community felt supportive, and like I wasn't so alone.”

“Robin creates and holds a beautifully supportive and present container to share what is most precious. We need more spaces and practices like this in our culture… Robin helps everyone feel at ease and fully supported. In turn, participants were able to support each other and connect in meaningful ways.”

“[After] . . . the loss of a loved one it feels easy to get lost in the doing. Robin has created a space to pause and be with your feelings…and step into a safe space where you can be with yourself and feel the connective power of grieving alongside others.”

“A gentle, welcoming retreat that met my grief exactly where it was. Through creativity, shared presence, and community, I felt deeply supported and less alone. Robin’s thoughtful leadership created a space where it felt safe to show up honestly and be seen.”

Registration will open March 15, 2026.
